Vintage Singer Model 15 Sewing Machine – Serial No. JC786351 – Wooden Case & Accessories

The Singer Model 15 is one of the true classics of sewing-machine history. Produced for many decades and copied by manufacturers around the world, its straightforward mechanical design, durability and excellent stitch quality helped make it one of Singer’s most successful domestic sewing machines.

This example, Serial No. JC786351, is a handsome Canadian Singer with the traditional black finish, delicate gold-and-cream decorative detailing and the familiar Singer brass medallion. It is mounted in its original-style wooden base and comes with the matching curved wooden Singer carrying cover, complete with handle.

One particularly nice feature is the built-in accessory compartment beside the machine. It still contains vintage Singer items, including an original Singer Motor Lubricant box and additional sewing accessories. These little surviving details add considerably to the character of an old machine like this.

The Model 15 is a straight-stitch mechanical machine known for its strong, simple construction. Its design became so successful that variations of the Model 15 were manufactured throughout the world for generations. It also uses the familiar low-shank presser-foot system, making it a particularly practical vintage machine for anyone interested in actually sewing with an older Singer rather than simply displaying one.

This machine remains in good vintage condition, with the expected signs of age and use visible in the photographs. The black finish retains a lovely shine and much of the decorative detailing remains intact. The wooden base and cover show scratches, marks and general wear consistent with their age. I have intentionally not cleaned or restored the machine, leaving that decision to its next owner.

Whether purchased by a Singer collector, a vintage sewing enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates the beauty and workmanship of these wonderful old machines, this is a lovely example of one of Singer’s most enduring designs.
