Silk Kimono Jacket

The Haori or Hanten is a classic Japanese style that has been adapted into modern fashion as the Kimono Jacket. This minimalistic yet effective style is designed to show of the fabric used to create it and can function as an over jacket for work, an alternative to an evening shall or even a warp top! For this class we will be using printed silk charmeuse to make the most out of this style beautiful cut and display of fabric. In class 1 we will be designing our own patterns from scratch, covering the fundamentals of pattern drafting. Students will then be required to cut out and serge their jackets as the following two classes we will be sewing! Our focuses will be working with silk and creating a beautifully finished unlined piece.  

Prerequisites: Experience in Sewing a pant or Skirt
