Vintage Singer 99K Portable Sewing Machine – 1939
With Original Case, Manual & Wooden Extension Table
What a wonderful find for the vintage sewing enthusiast! This Singer Model 99K is a beautiful example of Singer's highly regarded portable sewing machines—and this one is made particularly special by the accessories that have remained with it.
Serial number EC535382 places this machine within a production batch of 50,000 Singer 99K machines allotted on November 28, 1939. It would have been manufactured shortly thereafter at Singer's famous Kilbowie factory in Clydebank, Scotland.
The Model 99K was essentially a three-quarter-size version of the legendary Singer 66, offering much of the strength and dependability of its larger counterpart in a more compact and portable format.
But what makes this particular machine especially charming is what comes with it.
It is housed in its vintage carrying case and, remarkably, still has its original Singer instruction manual. Also included is a wonderful wooden extension table, designed to attach to the machine and provide additional working space while sewing. Finding these pieces together adds considerably to the character and appeal of the set.
And then there is the case! The machine is housed in an elegant vintage carrying case with a distinctive alligator-look textured finish, giving the entire set wonderful mid-century character.
