This is a very early primitive clothes wringer manufactured in Canada by Dowswell of Hamilton, Ontario. The first record of this company advertising its products was in a directory in 1896. Later in 1910 the company was renamed Cummer-Dowswell. The name on this wringer but it is Dowswell which makes it over 100 years old.
